About The Position

Perform numerous functions including processing deposits, withdrawals, posting to general ledger accounts, cashing negotiable items, processing loan payments, savings bonds, and cashier’s checks while promoting the bank’s products and services and providing excellent customer service. The role has no supervisory responsibilities. Performance is measured by the efficient and accurate performance of teller functions, cash balancing, client relations, coordination with staff, timely reporting, client relationship development, and maintaining the bank's professional reputation.

Requirements

  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • At least one year of related experience/cash handling required.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Professional appearance, dress, and attitude.
  • Good math skills.
  • Good typing skills.
  • Ability to operate related computer applications and business equipment including adding machine, typewriter, copy machine, coin, and money counting machines, and telephone.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved instructions and to deal with problems involving a few variables.
  • Ability to perform basic math skills, use decimals to compute ratios, percentages, and to draw and interpret graphs.
  • Ability to use passive vocabulary of 5,000-6,000 words; read at a slow rate; and define unfamiliar words in dictionaries for meaning, spelling, and pronunciation.
  • Ability to write complex sentences, using proper punctuation, and using adjectives and adverbs.
  • Ability to communicate in complex sentences, using normal word order with present and past tenses and good vocabulary.
  • Sedentary work; sitting most of the time. Exerts up to 10 lbs. of force occasionally.
  • No hazardous or significantly unpleasant conditions (such as in a typical office).
  • Average hearing: Able to hear average or normal conversations and receive ordinary information.
  • Finger dexterity: Using primarily just the fingers to make small movements such as typing, picking up small objects or pinching fingers together.
  • Repetitive motion: Movements frequently and regularly required using the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.
  • Average visual abilities: Average, ordinary, visual acuity necessary to prepare or inspect documents or products, or operate machinery.
  • Talking: Especially where one must frequently convey detailed or important instructions or ideas accurately, loudly, or quickly.

Responsibilities

  • Process deposits, withdrawals, and post to general ledger accounts.
  • Cash negotiable items, process loan payments, savings bonds, and cashier’s checks.
  • Verify and balance cash daily, detecting and resolving discrepancies promptly.
  • Offer and promote the bank’s products and services to meet customer needs.
  • Operate online teller terminal and maintain customer information privacy.
  • Assist area personnel as required and participate in training or orientation.
  • Keep supervisor informed of area activities, problems, or concerns.
  • Complete required reports and records accurately and promptly.
  • Perform night drop functions and related clerical duties as assigned.
  • Ensure work areas are clean, secure, and well maintained.
