About The Position

The Teller role plays a crucial part in providing quality service to our members. With your excellent member service skills and knowledge of credit union policies and procedures, you will ensure that all teller transactions are conducted accurately, professionally, and in a timely manner, making a positive impact on our members' banking experience. About This Role & Schedule Expectations: Position Location: Everett Financial Center (EFC) Training Locations: Tukwila Financial Center (TFC) (15 days) Training: Training includes 10–15 required training days at the Tukwila Financial Center during your first five weeks of employment. One-Year Commitment: All Retail new hires are expected to remain in this role and schedule for a minimum of one year before pursuing other opportunities within BECU. Travel Required: The ability to commute to both your assigned branch EFC and the Tukwila Financial Center for training is required. Schedule Flexibility Required: Tellers work varying shifts during our operating hours based on business needs. Flexibility to work any scheduled shift, including up to three Saturdays per month, is a core expectation of the role. Training Schedule: First 5 weeks, Monday–Friday Paid training between approximately 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM Includes 10–15 required training days at the Tukwila Financial Center Post-Training Schedule: Monday–Friday shifts between 7:45 AM – 6:30 PM Up to 3 rotational Saturdays per month: 8:45 AM – 1:30 PM

Requirements

  • Typically requires High School Diploma or associated Certification (GED).
  • 1 year of customer service or relevant experience.
  • Ability to commute to both your assigned branch EFC and the Tukwila Financial Center for training is required.
  • Flexibility to work any scheduled shift, including up to three Saturdays per month, is a core expectation of the role.
  • Proficient math skills, with the ability to process account transactions accurately.
  • Ability to multitask.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Good interpersonal skills to ensure professional handling of member concerns.
  • Ability to work independently and as a team member, using discretion and sound judgment.
  • Additional hours as necessary to accomplish objectives and goals.

Nice To Haves

  • Teller or cash handling experience.
  • Spanish language fluency highly desirable.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in handling transactions.
  • Experience in promoting and selling financial products or services.
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements related to financial transactions.
  • Successful completion of in-house teller training program.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver Exceptional Service: Provide prompt, professional service while helping members with transactions, account needs, questions, and solutions.
  • Build Member Relationships: Identify member needs and connect them with products, services, and digital banking solutions that support their financial goals while contributing to relationship-building and service goals.
  • Process Transactions Accurately: Handle deposits, withdrawals, check cashing, and other transactions while following compliance, security, and operational standards.
  • Support Team Success: Collaborate with teammates to support financial center operations, share knowledge, contribute to continuous improvement efforts, and help create an outstanding member experience.
