About The Position

A Pari-Mutuel Teller is the primary link at a racetrack or off-track betting (OTB) facility. The Pari-Mutuel Teller is responsible for processing wagering transactions, including selling betting tickets and cashing out winning tickets for patrons. • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Basic math skills; ability to calculate payouts and change rapidly.
  • Excellent verbal skills; ability to remain calm and polite during "rush" periods (minutes before a race).
  • High level of honesty and trustworthiness due to constant handling of large sums of cash.
  • Proficiency in using computerized point-of-sale or wagering terminals.

Nice To Haves

Responsibilities

  • Accurately process bets into the totalisator (tote) system, including Win, Place, Show, Exactas, Trifectas, and other exotic wagers.
  • Manage a cash drawer with high precision. This includes receiving cash, making correct change, and verifying the authenticity of currency and winning tickets.
  • Explain betting procedures, minimum wager amounts.
  • Adhere strictly to state racing commission regulations and internal company policies regarding age verification and anti-money laundering (AML) protocols.
  • Balance the cash drawer at the beginning and end of each shift, accounting for all "overs" and "shorts."
