About The Position

Greater Iowa Credit Union is looking for a Teller to assist members with their financial transactions, involving paying and receiving cash and other negotiable instruments. The role involves performing efficient, effective, and professional teller operations by receiving and processing member financial transactions, including deposits, withdrawals, and loan payments. Tellers also sell money orders and other negotiable items and transfer amounts from member accounts as directed, ensuring all functions are performed correctly and in accordance with established policies and procedures. Additionally, Tellers welcome members, provide routine information about services, direct members to appropriate departments, and present and explain credit union products and services, cross-selling them to meet member needs. A working knowledge of regulatory compliance related to the teller area is essential, as is the ability to balance the cash drawer and daily transactions, investigate discrepancies, and keep management informed. The position also assumes responsibility for related duties as required or assigned.

Requirements

  • One month to twelve months of similar or related experience.
  • A high school education or GED.
  • Ten key calculator and computer keyboard by touch.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Detail oriented and accurate to prove cash at end of day and avoid errors on member accounts.
  • Above average math skills.
  • Proven track record of strong member service skills.
  • Diplomacy.
  • Professionalism in appearance, dress and attitude is a must.
  • Regularly required to stand.
  • Frequently required to sit, walk, bend, reach, kneel, push and pull.
  • Occasionally lift and/or move up to 20-25 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, and ability to adjust focus.

Responsibilities

  • Receiving and processing member financial transactions, including deposits, withdrawals, and loan payments.
  • Selling money orders and other negotiable items and transferring amounts from member accounts as directed.
  • Ensuring that all teller functions are performed correctly and in accordance with established policies and procedures.
  • Welcoming members and providing routine information concerning services and directing members to appropriate department for specific information and service.
  • Presenting and explaining credit union products and services and cross selling them to meet their financial needs.
  • Maintaining working knowledge of regulatory compliance related to teller area including (but not limited to): BSA, OFAC, USA Patriot ACT, Red Flag, Regulation CC, Regulation D, Regulation E, Truth in Savings, Privacy, etc.
  • Balancing cash drawer and daily transactions.
  • Investigating out of balance conditions and balancing errors and keeping management informed.
  • Assuming responsibility for related duties as required or assigned.
