About The Position

This internship is exclusively for Lamar High School students. The Teller Intern is responsible for providing excellent and efficient service to credit union member owners at the Lamar High School branch. This role serves as the credit union's representative, requiring a general understanding of credit union processes, products, and services. While the primary duty involves processing transactions, the intern will also educate member owners about all available service channels.

Requirements

  • Under one year of similar or preparatory experience
  • No high school degree required
  • Courtesy and tact are essential elements of the job
  • Ability to communicate courteously and professionally
  • Basic math and computer skills
  • Self-driven and have an attitude that promotes serving our member owners
  • Ability to perform job functions independently or with limited supervision and work effectively either on own or as part of a team
  • Ability to read and carry out various written instructions and follow oral instructions
  • Ability to speak clearly and deliver information in a logical and understandable sequence
  • Ability to use basic math skills and spell accurately up to a high school graduate level
  • Capability of dealing calmly and professionally with numerous different personalities from diverse cultures at various levels within and outside of the organization and demonstrate highest levels of customer service and discretion when dealing with the public
  • Ability to perform responsibilities with composure under the stress of deadlines / requirements for extreme accuracy and quality and/or fast pace
  • Ability to effectively handle multiple, simultaneous, and changing priorities
  • Capability of exercising highest level of discretion on both internal and external confidential matters

Responsibilities

  • Greeting our member owners
  • Process member transactions in an accurate, efficient, and timely manner, including basic servicing of accounts, processing deposits and withdrawals, accepting loan payments, and cashing checks
  • Daily balancing of cash drawers and correcting any discrepancies found
  • Perform other duties as assigned by manager
  • Comply with applicable laws and regulations, including but not limited to, the Bank Secrecy Act, the Patriot Act, and the Office of Foreign Assets Control, in addition to all company policies
  • Educate member owners of the credit union about all available service channels
