About The Position

This internship is only available to Lamar High School students. The Teller Intern position is responsible for delivering superior and efficient service to member owners of the credit union who interact with the credit union through our Lamar High School location. This person will serve as the face of the credit union and must have a general understanding of credit union processes, products and services. While the primary role of this individual will be to process transactions, this person will also educate member owners of the credit union about all available service channels available to our member owners.

Requirements

  • Under one year of similar or preparatory experience.
  • No high school degree required.
  • Courtesy and tact are essential elements of the job.
  • Work involves personal contact with customers and others inside and outside the organization, generally regarding fairly routine matters for the purposes of giving and obtaining information or instructions, updating or referring. Communications require shorter and not in-depth discussions most of the time.
  • Must have the ability to communicate courteously and professionally and have basic math and computer skills.
  • Self-driven and have an attitude that promotes serving our member owners.
  • Must be able to perform job functions independently or with limited supervision and work effectively either on own or as part of a team.
  • Must be able to read and carry out various written instructions and follow oral instructions.
  • Must be able to speak clearly and deliver information in a logical and understandable sequence.
  • Must be able to use basic math skills and spell accurately up to a high school graduate level.
  • Must be capable of dealing calmly and professionally with numerous different personalities from diverse cultures at various levels within and outside of the organization and demonstrate highest levels of customer service and discretion when dealing with the public.
  • Must be able to perform responsibilities with composure under the stress of deadlines / requirements for extreme accuracy and quality and/or fast pace.
  • Must be able to effectively handle multiple, simultaneous, and changing priorities.
  • Must be capable of exercising highest level of discretion on both internal and external confidential matters.
  • Must be capable of regular, reliable and timely attendance.

Responsibilities

  • Greeting our member owners, process member transactions in an accurate, efficient, and timely manner. Transactions for members include basic servicing of accounts, processing of deposits and withdrawals, accepting loan payments, cashing checks, etc.
  • Daily balancing of cash drawers and correcting any discrepancies found
  • Perform other duties as assigned by manager.
  • Must comply with applicable laws and regulations, including but not limited to, the Bank Secrecy Act, the Patriot Act, and the Office of Foreign Assets Control, in addition to all company policies.
