About The Position

The Teller I is responsible for engaging with members, completing financial transactions, and offering products and services to enhance the member’s financial lives. This role requires adherence to all Shell FCU Service Commitments, Employee Creed, and Service Distinctions. The position involves maintaining knowledge of and compliance with applicable rules and regulations, including the Bank Secrecy Act, and completing required annual training. The Teller I must perform duties in compliance with Shell FCU policies, procedures, philosophy, and standards of performance, providing friendly, professional, and personal service to all members. The role requires flexibility to work rotating opening, closing, and Saturday schedules as needed.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • Knowledge of Credit Union products and services.
  • Professional verbal communication skills.
  • Ten-key calculator and basic computer skills.
  • Accuracy with numbers and attention to detail.
  • Courtesy, tact, and diplomacy.
  • Ability to work in an open-concept workspace/environment.
  • Must be able to work the rotating opening, closing and Saturday schedule, as needed.

Nice To Haves

  • Six months of cash handling practice acquired through direct Credit Union/Banking or retail experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Engage with members and complete financial transactions.
  • Offer Shell FCU products and services to enhance member financial lives.
  • Maintain knowledge of and comply with all applicable rules and regulations, including the Bank Secrecy Act.
  • Complete annual training sessions as instructed or scheduled.
  • Perform job duties and responsibilities in compliance with Shell FCU policies, procedures, philosophy, and standards of performance.
  • Provide friendly, professional, and personal service to all members.
  • Work the rotating opening, closing and Saturday schedule, as needed.
  • Receive and process member financial transactions, including deposits, withdrawals, transfers, and loan payments.
  • Negotiate checks, process Cash Advances and Western Union transactions, and process coin tickets.
  • Work within assigned Teller I limits.
  • Prepare CTR & SAR worksheets as required.
  • Understand and help identify/prevent fraud by working to understand Shell FCU practices and procedures.
  • Handle cash and balance cash drawer daily.
  • Investigate and resolve out-of-balance conditions immediately.
  • Assist with preparing cash/coin shipments and orders for the branch.
  • May assist in training new staff or the further development of team members.
  • Assist members with service needs related to change of address, ATM & debit card issuance/maintenance, check orders, and safe deposit boxes.
  • Cross-sell Credit Union products and services based upon member needs.
  • Understand and comply with all procedures related to logs, including dual control, buy/sells from the vault, night drop, and mail log.
  • Take initiative to assist with problem solving, troubleshooting, and providing support in all areas of the branch, as needed.
  • Meet/exceed personal and branch goals.
  • Assist the team with daily responsibilities as needed, including following opening and closing procedures.
  • Balance the coin machine, vault, ATM, and card machine daily; close SDB vault.
  • Assist the team at other branch locations, if needed.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
