About The Position

This is a highly technical position requiring extensive amounts of records keeping, logging, filing and typing. Good knowledge of the Policies and Procedures of the FCIC/NCIC/NLETS systems and a good working knowledge of the overall Law Enforcement process. Operators must constantly be aware of the civil litigations which may arise as a result of misuse of the system, regardless of intent.

Requirements

  • Minimum four years related work experience, or Associates Degree and two years related work experience.
  • Obtain and maintain the State of Florida Public Safety Telecommunicator (PST) certification.
  • Demonstrated skill in the use of computer and office equipment as required to perform the position tasks.
  • Ability to work independently using efficient time management skills.
  • Ability to enter and/or retrieve information from WINGS/NCIC/FCIC computer systems in an accurate manner and in accordance with all applicable state and federal statutes and agency policies.
  • Effectively communicate information, both verbal and written, demonstrating awareness for human diversity to citizens and colleagues.
  • The Sarasota County Sheriff's Office requires all employees to have either an associates degree, 60 equivalent hours from an accredited college or university or the Wonderlic Basic Skills Test.
  • Civilians must achieve a minimum passing score of Verbal - 248 and Quantitative - 241 on the Wonderlic Basic Skills Test.
  • Must submit a complete report of passing scores directly to the SCSO.
  • Must submit to a comprehensive background investigation, a polygraph examination, medical examinations, drug and tobacco screening, psychological examination (certified and communications positions).
  • Agree to have a background investigator with the SCSO review any social networking websites that you might belong to.

Nice To Haves

  • Sworn Law Enforcement and Corrections Deputies must achieve a minimum passing score of Verbal - 267 and Quantitative - 241 on the Wonderlic Basic Skills Test.
