The Police Department is looking for a Police Teletype Operator to intercept, interpret, search, enter, and remove information from local, state, and federal criminal justice information databases, such as the National Crime Information Center (NCIC), Florida Crime Information Center (FCIC), Driver and Vehicle Information Database (DAVID), and Criminal Justice Information System (CJIS). This role is open to both internal City employees and external applicants. Essential functions include assisting officers with information requests, operating teletype computer equipment for data entry and retrieval, researching and validating information within the Records Management System (RMS) and manual filing systems, and receiving requests through various communication channels. The operator will also handle administrative pages, call outs, public inquiries, and maintain accurate records. Additionally, the role involves validating and updating FCIC/NCIC entries, utilizing reference materials, operating computer systems for record keeping, processing SaferWatch tips, and maintaining logs and files. The position also requires performing 24-hour rechecks of tow/repossession entries, sorting and filing records, gathering information for officers and other agencies, sending administrative notifications, and processing safe watch tips.
