About The Position

Alliance for Wellness (AFW) is seeking a Board-Certified Psychiatrist to join our team, offering a comprehensive model of care through both onsite and telepsychiatry services. We are a medical group dedicated to providing the best patient care and have established long-term partnerships with leading hospitals across various healthcare settings, including Emergency Departments, psychiatric hospitals, general hospitals, and crisis stabilization units. This Telemedicine Psychiatrist position will focus primarily on specific responsibilities while adhering to the main job description for Psychiatrist. In-Person Psychiatrist positions are also available.

Requirements

• Must have an active California medical license.
• Must be Board Certified in Psychiatry OR have completed the Board Certification examination and be awaiting results.
• Excellent bedside manner and communication skills.
• Experience navigating multiple EMR systems.
• Strong technical skills and experience with secure video conferencing.
• Comfortable with technology and experienced with telehealth.
• Comfortable working independently.
• Must be available for both phone and video appointments.

Nice To Haves

• Minimum availability of 8 shifts per month (2 shifts per week) – highly preferred

Responsibilities

• Conduct telemedicine consultations to assess patients' medical and psychosocial needs via video or telephone while maintaining a professional and appropriate setting for video consultations.
• Assess patients by conducting psychiatric evaluations, including intake forms, interviews, medical histories, and observations to diagnose patients.
• Prescribe and administer medications according to diagnosis. Physicians will not prescribe controlled substances or narcotics scheduled by the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) and shall operate subject to applicable law.
• Provide medical guidance to onsite nursing staff and physician-to-physician consultation in the Emergency Department, patient floors, and ambulatory telepsychiatry settings.
• Refer patients to specialists and relevant patient care services as appropriate.
• Maintain collaborative working relationships with onsite medical providers engaged in inpatient care.
• Document patient interactions, diagnoses, treatment plans, and related information within the hospital EMR.
• Primarily support Crisis Stabilization Units (CSU), with occasional consultations from Emergency Departments or other partner hospital settings.
• Support Alliance for Wellness partner hospitals throughout Southern California.
