About The Position
The Ambulatory Wilmot Hematology Oncology Clinic at Strong is seeking a highly motivated professional to join their telephone triage team. This Full-time position involves 4-10 hour shifts, primarily days, Monday through Friday, with the potential for one day per week from home. The role is located offsite at Corporate Woods with free parking. The successful candidate will be responsible for clinical assessment, symptom management, patient education, addressing critical lab values, care coordination, and collaborating with oncology/hematology provider teams. The position requires strong interpersonal and communication skills, autonomous decision-making, and excellent assessment skills. The candidate must demonstrate a strong commitment to the URMC IICARE values of integrity, inclusion, compassion, accountability, respect & excellence.
Requirements
- One year of acute care experience required.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Autonomous in decision-making.
- Excellent assessment skills.
Nice To Haves
- Prior oncology experience preferred.
Responsibilities
- Provision of competent direct patient care based on established standards.
- Contribution to unit activities and support enhancement of the care delivery system at the unit level.
- Support peers in the delivery of patient care services.
- Assume an expanded role which may include charge nurse, preceptor, and committee member responsibilities.
- Clinical assessment.
