This role is responsible for courteously and efficiently handling all incoming calls, connecting callers to the correct extensions, and taking and relaying messages accurately and in a timely manner. The Telephone Operator will also respond to emergencies and urgent calls from patients, directing them to clinical staff as necessary. Key functions include triaging calls, connecting and transferring calls, setting up conference calls, instructing users on telephone procedures, and reporting telephone and equipment malfunctions. The position aims to provide a pleasant and helpful phone contact for all callers, and is responsible for opening and closing the switchboard, as well as managing the in-house paging system. Clerical duties as assigned will also be part of the role to maintain departmental workflow.
