This role is responsible for courteously and efficiently answering all incoming calls, connecting callers with the correct extension, and taking and relaying messages accurately and in a timely manner. The Telephone Operator will respond to emergencies and urgent calls from patients promptly, directing callers to clinical staff as necessary. Key functions include triaging calls, connecting and transferring calls, setting up conference calls, instructing users on telephone procedures, and reporting telephone and equipment malfunctions. The position also involves providing a pleasant and helpful phone contact for callers, opening and closing the switchboard, and managing the in-house paging system. Additionally, the role includes performing clerical duties as assigned to maintain departmental workflow.
