About The Position

The Telemetry Technician is responsible for continuous monitoring and surveillance of telemetry patients. The role includes recognizing and reporting rhythm changes and potentially life-threatening arrhythmias to the Registered Nurse according to established protocols. This is a part-time, 0.6 FTE night-shift position based in Elma, Washington, with SVC contract 12-hour shifts in a 40-hour work week (listed hours: 1800–0630).

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
Certified Nursing Assistant license.
Proficiency in ECG rhythm interpretation and ability to pass the exam.
New Telemetry Technicians must complete a Summit Pacific Medical Center-approved telemetry course and pass its exam within three weeks of hire.
Strong communication and teamwork skills.
Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to pass the yearly competency test.

Nice To Haves

Completion of a Telemetry Technician or ECG interpretation course.
One to two years of work experience as a Certified Nursing Assistant in a patient care setting.
Telemetry Technician experience.

Responsibilities

Continuously monitor patients’ cardiac rhythms and physiological parameters.
Observe, document, and correctly interpret cardiac rhythms.
Recognize rhythm abnormalities and promptly report concerns to the Registered Nurse.
Operate monitoring equipment correctly and troubleshoot when necessary.
Identify and respond to monitor alarms and emergency conditions.
Maintain composure and communicate effectively in high-stress situations.
Use office equipment such as fax machines, scanners, copiers, telephones, and computers.
Ensure proper documentation of electronic and paper communications.
Answer phone calls and direct inquiries to the correct resource.
Accurately document the initiation and discontinuation of patient monitoring.
Follow procedures for managing patient records and ensuring confidentiality.
Perform special projects and other related duties as assigned.
Adapt to changes in the work environment and ask clarifying questions or provide constructive input respectfully.
Maintain effective working relationships with supervisors and coworkers.
Provide service that meets SPMC standards for patients, customers, and coworkers.
Participate in ongoing skills training and competency development.
Perform duties in accordance with quality, accuracy, quantity, and timeliness expectations, reprioritizing as needed.
