About The Position

Under the direction and supervision of the charge nurse, the telemetry technician is responsible for the continuous monitoring of heart rhythms and electrical activity of the heart, recognizing abnormal rhythms, interpretation of electrical activity and rhythms and informing the charge nurse regarding any significant changes. They communicate with other departments regarding rhythm changes and lead or battery issues. They are also responsible for entering telemetry statistics.

Requirements

  • High school graduate or GED.
  • Successful completion of a certified nurse assistant training course; satisfactory completion of foundations course in nursing school; successful completion of an EMT training course; or 3 years nurse assistant experience.
  • Successful completion of EKG Recognition class.
  • Basic Life Support certification from either American Red Cross CPR/AED for the Health Care Provider, or Basic Life Support (American Heart Association-Health Care Provider).

Nice To Haves

  • 80-hours of telemetry observation with a qualified telemetry tech within the first 6 months of employment.
  • Telemetry Certification preferred.
