About The Position

Performs technical and patient care tasks and continuous observation, interpretation, recording, and communication of cardiac rhythms of monitored patients in a variety of age groups to the Registered Nurse and physician. Those hired to work evening and night shift will perform EKG’s during absence of Central EKG Telemetry Specialist during break/meal periods or sick leaves not able to be covered by part time or per diem Specialists. The compensation range for the role is $26.13- $30.43 hourly Garnet Health System provides a compensation range to comply with the New York State law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits. When determining a team member’s compensation and/or rate, several factors may be considered as applicable (e.g., location, specialty, service line, years of relevant experience, education, credentials, negotiated contracts, budget and internal equity).

Requirements

  • Minimum Education: High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Ability to communicate with patients, visitors and staff both orally and in writing.
  • Monitor Tech or fluent with Cardiac Rhythm Interpretation.
  • Six months prior patient care experience
  • Successful completion of course in cardiac arrhythmia interpretation (ECG Fundamentals & Basic Dysrhythmias: Part 1- A&P and ECG) with course completion certificate required.
  • Successful test grade required after completion of advanced ECG interpretation class in order to remain in telemetry tech position.
  • BLS certification current and ongoing.
  • EKG competency within 6 months of hire.

Nice To Haves

  • Nursing assistant, Pre-Nursing or Nursing Student (with completed A&P courses), EMT, or Paramedic preferred.
  • Completion of Garnet Health Telemetry Tech Training and Education Program required if no experience
