About The Position

This role involves monitoring patient cardiac rhythms, interpreting electrocardiograms (ECG), and responding to critical changes. The technician is responsible for documenting findings, communicating with nursing and physician staff, and adhering to established policies and procedures. Key duties include rhythm strip interpretation, immediate notification of life-threatening arrhythmias, and activation of emergency codes. The position also requires proficiency in electronic health record documentation (CPRS) and assisting healthcare providers with documentation tasks.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalency
• 6 months to 1 year experience in a healthcare setting in basic ECG and arrhythmia interpretation.
• BLS - AHA approved

Nice To Haves

• Certification in EKG preferred

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates competency with rhythm strip interpretation.
• Immediately notifies RN and/or physician of any life threatening arrhythmias.
• Notifies RN of changes in patient rhythm.
• Demonstrates competency in activating emergency code system.
• Able to place calls to physicians.
• Posts rhythm strips each shift as per policy and procedure.
• Demonstrates competency in CPRS documentation.
• Assists physicians and nurses with CPRS documentation as necessary.
• Completes extra duties as assigned.
