As a Unit Secretary/Monitor Tech you will perform clerical and receptionist duties and observe the cardiac monitors within a specific nursing unit. Transcribe physician orders and perform computer activities. Consistent with the Mission of MercyOne, Vision of Patient Care Services, evidence-based standards of care, and established policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • Must be 17 years of age. May be required to be 18 years of age in some areas.
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent preferred.
  • All Certified Nursing Assistants are encouraged to belong to the National Nursing Aide Registry. In certain areas, participation in the registry is required.
  • Child and Dependent Adult Abuse Mandatory Reporter Training is required within 6 months of hire and every 3 years thereafter.
  • Basic Life Support Certification (BLS) will be required within 30 days of hire and every year thereafter.

  • Maintains a professional, collaborative work environment so as to foster a positive public image for MercyOne Dubuque/Dyersville Medical Center.
  • Knows and adheres to all laws and regulations pertaining to patient health, safety and medical information (i.e., HIPAA, Stark, etc.)
  • Functions in an assistive role under the supervision of the Registered Nurse retaining accountability for one’s own actions and behaviors.
  • Continuously seeks out opportunities to improve the quality of patient care delivery through innovative and creative problem solving.
  • Supports and participates in shared leadership and interdisciplinary care.
  • Demonstrates ethical conduct and practice consistent with the Code of Ethics for Nurses with Interpretive Statements (2001).
