About The Position

The Telemetry RN position at Scotland Memorial Hospital is a part-time role on the 1st shift, working 7 AM to 7 PM on a PRN (as needed) basis. This role is crucial for providing direct patient care within the telemetry unit, ensuring adherence to best practices and standards of care. The nurse will be responsible for patient assessment, monitoring, documentation, and coordinating care with other healthcare professionals and departments. Age-specific competency is required, demonstrating knowledge of patient needs across the lifespan from adolescence to geriatrics. The position also involves supervising other personnel and ensuring all necessary supplies and equipment are prepared and functional for procedures.

Requirements

  • Graduate Of Accredited Nursing Program
  • Current NC or Multistate RN licensure
  • Current BLS
  • ACLS Certification
  • NIH certification
  • AEGIS training
  • Demonstrates Excellent Communication Skills, Both Written And Verbal.
  • Diplomacy, Tact, And A Positive Approach To Problem Solving Are Required To Be Successful.
  • Organizational Skills Are A Must.
  • Fosters A Teamwork Environment.
  • Must Be Able To Communicate With Patients, Customers, Other Departments, And Staff In An Articulate And Professional Manner
  • Computer (Electronic Medical Record) Charting

Responsibilities

  • Stay current with best practice and advancements in telemetry nursing.
  • Ensures that proper technique and practice are used according to accepted standards.
  • Supervises other personnel in the room and directs or assists as necessary.
  • Ensures care of patient through proper identification, checking of chart and reporting changes in condition.
  • Ascertains that consent form is accurate and properly signed prior to procedure.
  • Ensures proper body alignment throughout procedure.
  • Have all supplies and equipment in room with equipment checks completed before procedure to ensure it is in working condition.
  • Cares for specimens and cultures according to policy and procedure.
  • Completes documentation and charges.
  • Accompanies patient to patient care unit and reports to nurse on patient procedure and special happenings.
  • Interviews patient prior to procedure to facilitate knowledge of patient, assesses condition and needs.
  • Prepares supplies and organizes materials with respect to special needs of patient and procedure.
  • Age Specific Competency: Staff members will have knowledge of human growth and development through the life span of the patient and have the ability to meet the needs of and provide the care of these patients. The age categories to be included are: Adolescence 13 - 17 yrs; Young Adult/Adult 18 – 64 yrs; Adult/Middle-Aged 65 - 79 yrs; Geriatric 80+ yrs
  • Performs duties as assigned by surgical services leadership.
