About The Position

The Telemetry/Monitor Technician is responsible for accurate record keeping, observation of monitors and prompt reporting of cardiac rhythm changes. The Telemetry/Monitor Technician must possess effective communication skills. This position will routinely perform Unit Secretary duties for the unit as assigned. This position requires the full understanding and active participation in fulfilling the Mission of Martin Luther King, Jr. Community Hospital. It is expected that the employee will demonstrate behavior consistent with the Core Values. The employee shall support Martin Luther King, Jr. Community Hospital’s strategic plan and the goals and direction of the quality and performance improvement process activities.

Requirements

A minimum of 1 year working as a Telemetry Monitor Technician.
Current Basic Life Support (BLS)
Basic Computer skills

Nice To Haves

High School Diploma or G.E.D Equivalency preferred

Responsibilities

Performs ongoing observation of the cardiac monitors and interprets cardiac rhythms correctly.
Detects and promptly reports changes in parameters monitoring cardiac rhythms.
Ensure timely and accurate communication of patient information with all members of the health care team.
Arrhythmias-maintain strips and reporting changes.
Documents clearly and accurately.
Performs clerical duties efficiently and accurately.
Prioritize and assist with unit activities based on patient needs under the direction of the RN.
Demonstrate effective time management and organizational skills.
Aware of Watson Model of Care including key elements of Caring, Competence, Communication and commitment.
Participates in unit-based initiatives that promote patient safety and support customer service goals.
Demonstrates safe and effective use or computers, scanners, tube system, central station monitoring system, and telemetry transmitters.

Presents a clean, professional, well groomed image.
Wears name badge where visible.
Adheres to dress policy.
Demonstrates sense of ownership, pays attention to details, and ensures all mandatory obligations are met.
