Responsible for continual monitoring of telemetry units and promptly alerting appropriate personnel of significant changes in readings. This role involves observing and analyzing telemetry monitors, reporting significant changes in rhythms, completing clerical tasks, and performing equipment checks. The technician is also expected to stay current with literature and techniques related to their position, maintain updated in-services, and foster excellent working relationships. They will promote the organization's philosophy, mission, and objectives, and demonstrate the ability to prioritize tasks and complete duties within allotted time. Honesty, integrity, and respect for patients and co-workers are essential. The role requires the ability to interact tactfully with various individuals and to carry out essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation. Accessing continuing education opportunities and sharing professional knowledge are also key aspects. The technician will participate in facility meetings, understand emergency and disaster procedures, and contribute to the hospital-wide safety program by identifying risks and reducing healthcare errors. Participation in relevant in-service training sessions and performing other assigned duties are also part of the role. Promoting and protecting patients’ rights, demonstrating willingness to try new tasks, generating new ideas, evaluating and recognizing priorities, communicating and modeling organizational values, and fostering high performance are expected. Applying performance improvement methods, assisting in data collection, identifying processes for improvement, and participating in new employee orientation are also responsibilities. Understanding fire and emergency procedures, participating in drills, applying safety and security precautions, and demonstrating proper use of equipment are crucial. Adhering to hand-washing principles, understanding isolation precautions, maintaining personal hygiene, recognizing signs of infection, and complying with the employee health program and OSHA standards are vital for infection control. Timely and accurate data entry, protecting patient information confidentiality, and reporting suspected violations are key to information management. Demonstrating active listening, gaining support through effective relationships, seeking feedback, and maintaining reporting mechanisms are important interpersonal skills. Attending in-service and education programs, and completing continuing education for license and/or certification maintenance are required.
