About The Position
Sentara is currently hiring a Monitor Technician to work at Sentara Leigh Hospital on the Telemetry Monitor Surveillance team. This role involves observing, recognizing, interpreting, evaluating, and documenting EKG tracings on telemetry-monitored patients to detect deviations from the patient's norm. The technician will promptly notify appropriate personnel of dysrhythmias, operate and utilize the monitoring system to its full capacity, and ensure the proper and safe functioning of the telemetry equipment.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- Completion of a monitor technician surveillance program/course required upon hire.
- Candidates who have not completed a monitor technician surveillance program must complete a certificate program within 90 days of hire.
- To be released from new employee orientation all Monitor Technicians must successfully complete the Sentara Basic Arrhythmia competency tool which includes passing a basic arrhythmia exam.
Nice To Haves
- 1 year experience in monitor technician surveillance within the last 5 years will be accepted in substitute of a monitor tech surveillance program/course.
- One year of EKG/Monitor Tech experience preferred.
