About The Position

Telemetry Monitor Technician (PRN / Nights) at Texas Health Rockwall. This role supports the Telemetry Monitoring Department, which is known for its supportive team environment, staff longevity, and high patient experience scores. The technician will be responsible for operating telemetry monitoring equipment, collecting and documenting patient rhythm and rate information, identifying and reporting abnormalities, and ensuring continuity of care. They will also process patient admissions and discharges, notify primary RNs of changes, communicate patient safety risks, serve as a patient advocate, and assist with documentation to meet hospital and regulatory requirements. The role operates under a Professional Practice Model philosophy, fostering partnership with patients, families, physicians, peers, and other disciplines.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent required
  • Basic understanding/ability to learn medical terminology

Nice To Haves

  • Cardiac telemetry experience is preferred
  • 1 year of telemetry monitoring experience strongly preferred

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates competency in the set up and use of the telemetry monitoring equipment.
  • Collects, reports, and documents patient information (rhythms/rate) timely and accurately.
  • Seeks assistance, supervision, or consultation when unsure of rhythm(s) identification.
  • Distinguishes and reports abnormalities and initiates action to provide continuity of care.
  • Processes admission and discharge or patients in system promptly. Prepares monitor for next patient admission.
  • Notifies patient’s primary RN promptly of any changes in patient’s monitor view.
  • Communicates promptly of perceived risks specific to patient safety or immediate need for assistance to co-workers, nurses, and physicians/providers.
  • Serves as a patient advocate.
  • Assists with documentation that supports and meets hospital and regulatory requirements.
  • Uses Professional Practice Model philosophy to work in partnership with patients, families, physicians, peers, and all other disciplines.
