Under the general supervision of senior-level engineers, a Telemetry Field Engineer performs a variety of fundamental field engineering tasks involved in the design, development, installation, operations, testing, and maintenance of telemetry equipment and systems. The employee will be responsible for supporting the design, integration, and testing of fixed and mobile telemetry acquisition systems and equipment in the L, S, C, and P frequency bands. This role involves specifying antennas, recorders, distribution amplifiers, low-noise amplifiers (LNAs), receivers, and various RF components. The engineer will assist field technicians and operators with operations and maintenance, conduct research to support higher-level engineers, and stay informed about approved standards, codes, and procedures in telemetry engineering. The position requires performing varied and sometimes difficult engineering tasks, resolving technical problems using standard practices, and supporting projects with detailed instructions. The engineer will also generate sections of design specifications, conduct laboratory investigations using computer-assisted test methods, and assist with the preparation of drawings, documentation, reports, correspondence, and technical studies. Additionally, the role involves preparing and delivering technical presentations and attending the annual International Telemetry Conference (ITC).
