About The Position

EquipmentShare is hiring a Telematics Installer at its rental facility in Trotwood, Ohio. Telematics Installers install and repair the company’s telematics systems and devices on vehicles, construction and heavy equipment, and customer assets. The role involves testing installations, removing and replacing ignition systems, integrating keypad and telematics communications, and handling installations ranging from basic power, ignition, and ground connections to complex custom wiring harnesses that access CAN networks. Installers may travel to client sites and EquipmentShare rental yards across the region and represent the EquipmentShare platform and brand in the field. The schedule is Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with overtime pay after 40 hours. The role is subject to on-call scheduling with additional compensation, and may occasionally involve work outside business hours and on weekends. Travel within a 250-mile radius of the local branch for up to a week at a time is required. Compensation is $20–$30 per hour; experience and location may affect the final rate. The position is safety-sensitive. Employment is contingent on passing a background check, and this role also requires passing a 10-panel drug screen. Telematics Installers may need to be clean-shaven to enter certain customer worksites.

Requirements

Proficiency with iPhone/mobile phone technology and basic computer navigation.
High school diploma or equivalent.
Mechanical aptitude and ability to work with hands and tools.
Hard-working, eager to learn, mechanically inclined, and attentive to detail.
Experience in a related field, such as electrical work, HVAC, or car audio installation.
Own tools; some specialty tools will be provided.
Clean driving record and ability to pass a background check.
Willingness to travel within a 250-mile radius of the local branch for up to a week at a time.
Ability to drive and maneuver in tight spaces, bend, squat, walk long distances, and lift more than 25 pounds.
Ability to pass a 10-panel drug screen as a condition of employment.

Nice To Haves

Trade school certificate.
Prior experience as a Mobile Electronics Installer, Automotive Electronics Technician, or 12V Technician.
Prior telematics industry experience is not necessary; training will be provided.

Responsibilities

Install telematics systems and devices on vehicles, construction equipment, heavy equipment, and customer assets.
Operate machinery at times during installation for testing purposes.
Remove and replace ignition systems without custom keypads and controllers, and integrate communication between keypad and telematics systems.
Complete installations ranging from basic power, ignition, and ground connections to complex installations requiring custom wiring harnesses to access CAN networks.
Identify and resolve problems, gather and analyze information, and develop alternative solutions when needed.
Travel to client sites and EquipmentShare rental yards throughout the region for installation work.
Represent and advocate for the EquipmentShare platform of solutions and brand while working in the field.
Occasionally work outside business hours and on weekends.
Participate in on-call scheduling.
