About The Position

EquipmentShare is hiring a Telematics Installer at its rental facility in Midland, Texas. The role installs and repairs the company’s telematics systems and devices on vehicles, construction and heavy equipment, and customer assets. Installers may operate machinery to test installations, work through basic and complex wiring scenarios, and travel to client sites or regional EquipmentShare rental yards. The position serves as an advocate for EquipmentShare’s platform and brand while working in the field.

The schedule is Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with overtime pay after 40 hours. The role is subject to on-call scheduling with additional compensation, and may occasionally require work outside business hours and on weekends. Travel within a 250-mile radius of the local branch may involve trips of up to one week at a time.

This is a safety-sensitive position. Employment is contingent on passing a background check, and this role requires passing a 10-panel drug screen. Installers may need to be clean-shaven to enter certain customer worksites.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Mechanical aptitude and comfort working with hands and tools.
• Hard-working, eager to learn, and mechanically inclined, with excellent attention to detail.
• Experience in a related field, such as electrical work, HVAC, car audio installation, mobile electronics installation, automotive electronics, or 12V technician work.
• Proficiency with iPhone or mobile phone technology and basic computer navigation.
• Own tools; some specialty tools will be provided.
• Clean driving record and ability to pass a background check.
• Willingness to travel within a 250-mile radius of the local branch for up to a week at a time.
• Ability to drive and maneuver in tight spaces, bend, squat, walk long distances, and lift more than 25 pounds.
• Ability to pass a 10-panel drug screen as a condition of employment.

Nice To Haves

• Trade school certificate preferred.
• Prior telematics industry experience is not necessary; training will be provided.

Responsibilities

• Install telematics systems and devices on vehicles, construction equipment, heavy equipment, and customer assets.
• Operate machinery when needed to test installations.
• Remove and replace ignition systems without a custom keypad and controller, then integrate communication between keypad and telematics systems.
• Complete installations ranging from basic power, ignition, and ground connections to complex wiring harnesses for accessing vehicle and equipment CAN networks.
• Identify and resolve problems, gather and analyze information, and develop alternative solutions when needed.
• Travel to client sites or EquipmentShare rental yards throughout the region for installation work.
• Represent and advocate for the EquipmentShare platform of solutions and brand while working on the job and in the field.
