About The Position

Sampson County is seeking dedicated professionals to join our Emergency Services team as Telecommunicators. As a telecommunicator, you will play a vital role in ensuring the safety of Sampson County residents by responding to 911 calls requesting emergency assistance. Your work will have a real and lasting impact on the lives of those we serve.

Nice To Haves

Knowledge of telecommunication systems and equipment is preferred
Relevant training beyond a high school diploma with experience in communication dispatch work that provides the necessary skills to serve effectively as a Telecommunicator.
A combination of relevant education and experience will be considered.

Responsibilities

Respond to emergency and non-emergency requests for service and various tasks for law enforcement, fire, EMS, and partnering agencies
Provide guidance and assistant to the public in emergency situations
Assist in dispatching law enforcement, fire, emergency medical service personnel and equipment
Effectively operate computer-aided dispatch (CAD) equipment to effectively communicate with response personnel
Utilize the International Academy of Emergency Medical Dispatch (EMD), Emergency Fire Dispatch (EFD), and Emergency Police Dispatch (EPD) to protocol process and prioritize calls for service
Accurately maintain communication logs, law enforcement activity logs, and call reports
Enter/ Modify /Clear National Crime Information Center (NCIC) files for law enforcement agencies such as Wanted Persons, Missing Persons, Stolen Vehicles, etc.
