About The Position

Sampson County is seeking dedicated professionals to join our Emergency Services team as Telecommunicators. As a telecommunicator, you will play a vital role in ensuring the safety of Sampson County residents by responding to 911 calls requesting emergency assistance. Your work will have a real and lasting impact on the lives of those we serve.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of telecommunication systems and equipment is preferred
  • Relevant training beyond a high school diploma with experience in communication dispatch work that provides the necessary skills to serve effectively as a Telecommunicator.
  • A combination of relevant education and experience will be considered.

Responsibilities

  • Respond to emergency and non-emergency requests for service and various tasks for law enforcement, fire, EMS, and partnering agencies
  • Provide guidance and assistant to the public in emergency situations
  • Assist in dispatching law enforcement, fire, emergency medical service personnel and equipment
  • Effectively operate computer-aided dispatch (CAD) equipment to effectively communicate with response personnel
  • Utilize the International Academy of Emergency Medical Dispatch (EMD), Emergency Fire Dispatch (EFD), and Emergency Police Dispatch (EPD) to protocol process and prioritize calls for service
  • Accurately maintain communication logs, law enforcement activity logs, and call reports
  • Enter/ Modify /Clear National Crime Information Center (NCIC) files for law enforcement agencies such as Wanted Persons, Missing Persons, Stolen Vehicles, etc.
