This position involves training on all DU-COMM and member agency Telecommunicator protocols, procedures, and operations to complete certification programs for Call Taking, then Police and/or Fire. The role requires answering 9-1-1 and other incoming phone calls, processing requests for Police, Fire, and EMS with accuracy, and communicating courteously with citizens and personnel. Responsibilities include data entry, monitoring radio channels, dispatching calls, and performing routine notifications to outside agencies. The Telecommunicator will operate various communications center equipment and software, and must become certified in Emergency Medical Dispatch (EMD), Emergency Fire Dispatch (EFD), LEADS, NIMS, CPR, and other necessary certifications.
