About The Position

Amentum is seeking a Telecommunications Technician Professional – Ascension Island to support the Space Force Range contract. This role involves performing electrical, mechanical, and RF troubleshooting to identify and resolve equipment issues. The technician will be responsible for dismantling, adjusting, repairing, calibrating, aligning, assembling, and operating equipment. Key duties include managing property inventory, controlling supply parts and tools, ensuring quality assurance, and collaborating with the Depot Property Manager for equipment calibration. The position also requires maintaining station logs, documentation, and records, along with a working knowledge of computer networks and serial to Ethernet conversion. Specific equipment operation includes timing CS-5 count distribution equipment, Time comparison with US Naval Observatory atomic clock (TWSTT), IRIG time codes and distribution, and GPS receivers. The role involves performing technical duties in a Tech Control environment, supporting routine test operations, checkouts, and modifications, and operating/maintaining multiplexors, DRCS, AUTODIN, ATM networking equipment, and KG devices. Training in all areas of Ascension Communications and assisting in training other employees is also expected. Other duties as assigned in the aforementioned areas will be performed.

Requirements

  • AS Degree in Electronic Technology, or two-year technical school, equivalent military experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Two (2) years of communications operations and maintenance experience
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Products; Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access and Outlook
  • Experience utilizing test and diagnostic measurement equipment, Fireberd digital test set, network analyzers, multi-meters and oscilloscopes
  • Experience with troubleshooting of electronic equipment/systems
  • Ability to move, transport, install and position equipment weighing up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to ascend/descend and traverse work areas at heights of 20 feet or more
  • Ability to drive manual transmission
  • The flexibility to work frequent non-duty hours or on weekends to support specific project or mission requirements
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Security Clearance, which includes U.S. citizenship
  • Valid U.S. Driver’s License
  • Valid U.S. passport or ability to obtain one within 60 days of hire

  • Knowledge, understanding, and familiarity with the operation and maintenance of military satellite communications equipment including the antenna system, RF transmit and receive subsystems, and satellite modems and digital interface equipment, preferred
  • Knowledge, understanding, and familiarity with the operation and maintenance of Tech Control, data transmission systems, digital switching equipment, patch panels, audio amplifiers, and signal conditioning equipment, preferred
