About The Position

The Telecommunications Specialist is a hands-on technical resource for the voice communication infrastructure and devices across all Hamilton Health Sciences sites. The on-site Telecommunications Specialist works closely with different teams, departments, clients and vendors providing expertise, guidance, maintenance and support of voice communication technology such as Avaya enterprise telephone system, voicemail, call centre solutions, call costing systems, city-wide paging system and infrastructure and mobile phones. The Specialist will act as the primary telecommunications liaison between communication equipment clients, departmental contacts, relocation teams and contractors to consult, evaluate, design, plan, organize, coordinate, schedule, implement and oversee requests pertaining to voice communication relocations and new installations, whether large or small. The Telecommunications Specialist will support the Avaya enterprise telephone system, voicemail, call centre solutions, call costing systems, city-wide paging system and infrastructure and HHS managed mobile phones.

Requirements

  • Post secondary school College diploma in Telecommunications and/or three years work experience on telephony support, programming and troubleshooting
  • Knowledge of communication industry and familiarity with general types of telephone, paging, call costing, call center system, mobility, including functions and components
  • System software programming
  • Knowledge of Microsoft 365 and Service Now applications or equivalent
  • Good interpersonal communication, mulit-tasking and prioritization skills and the ability to communicate effectively with clients
  • Sound communication and organizational skills both written and verbal
  • Ability to plan, design, organize, coordinate, schedule and evaluate requests for equipment and problem-solving situations
  • Good understanding of Network architecture

Nice To Haves

  • Avaya proven support experience preferred

Responsibilities
