About The Position

The Telecommunications Representative operates the telephone control board and paging system, dispatching incoming calls and paging internal, external, and on-call clinical staff during and after regular business hours. The role coordinates telecommunications systems throughout Thompson Health System, including telephone, voicemail, pager, cell phone/Nextel phones, and the public address paging system.

This is a full-time evening position scheduled Thursday through Monday, 3 p.m. to 11 p.m., including weekends and holidays. The pay range is $18.55–$22.00, with starting pay based on experience.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Previous operator/switchboard and customer service experience.
• Basic computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft products.
• In-depth knowledge of the operations and procedures related to health system switchboard, voicemail, paging, and cell phone/Nextel phone systems.
• Ability to function calmly under stressful situations.
• Ability to be flexible in decision-making and prioritizing assignments.
• Ability to work independently and within a group.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.

Nice To Haves

• Associate degree preferred.

Responsibilities

• Use sound judgment and remain calm when handling stressful situations, including announcing a Code over the public address system.
• Adjust decision-making and prioritize assignments as needed.
• Work independently and as part of a group.
• Protect the confidentiality of sensitive information, including information about patients, associates, and the health system.
