About The Position

Humboldt Park Health is a community-based, 200-bed acute care hospital serving the Humboldt Park community with patient-centered healthcare. The Telecommunications Operator answers incoming calls to the hospital switchboard promptly and professionally, monitors and responds to hospital alarm systems according to procedures, and responds calmly to emergencies, alarms, and codes. The operator announces codes according to policy, transfers calls to appropriate destinations, and performs overhead paging as needed. This is a full-time position, with flexibility potentially required based on patient care and operational needs. The pay range is $17.68 per hour; final offers may vary based on job-related factors.

Requirements

1–3 years of similar experience required.

Responsibilities

Direct the flow of incoming and outgoing calls.
Ensure effective and efficient operation of the paging system and conduct a wide variety of paging functions.
Monitor various alarm systems.
Provide accurate information to patients, staff, physicians, and the public, as requested.
Promote a culture of safety by identifying threats to patient safety and reporting events in a timely fashion.
Communicate openly and promote teamwork.
Respond calmly to emergency situations, alarms, and codes; announce codes according to policies and procedures.
Transfer calls to appropriate destinations and perform overhead paging as needed.
