Serve as the hospital’s telephone receptionist, welcoming patients and other customers by offering service and assistance in a pleasant and professional manner. This role is responsible for operating a computerized telephone console to ensure efficient communications, determining the reason for customer contact, and facilitating communications by answering calls promptly and forwarding them to the appropriate locations. The position also involves performing public address and paging mechanisms, monitoring and managing pagers, and handling various technical operations of the telecommunications system. Additionally, the Telecommunications Operator is crucial in notifying hospital staff of emergency and critical situations, maintaining knowledge of hospital disaster plans, and responding immediately according to established procedures and protocols. This role also involves recording and monitoring emergency situations, summoning/dispatching/paging necessary personnel during emergencies, and acting as an answering service for departments.
