Performs straight forward network architecture assignments under moderate direction. Uses knowledge to support the planning, researching, evaluating, designing, and developing network systems. Participates in configuration, installation, and performance analysis of networks. This role involves participating in the design, installation, configuration, troubleshooting, and performance analysis of AEP's intermediate and enterprise telecommunication networks and systems. Employees are expected to follow policies, practices, procedures, standards, and company rules related to assignments, and comply with regulations and procedures required by external agencies. Responsibilities include preparing cost estimates for engineering assignments, documenting project work, analyzing network performance, troubleshooting technical problems, and applying economic analysis techniques while adhering to budgeting and approval processes. The role also requires demonstrating knowledge of AEP networks, components, and facilities, understanding AEP's organizational structure, and collaborating with others within the work group, department, or other corporate entities. Additionally, employees may be required to provide cross-training to other employees and initiate corrective action when project objectives are not being met. Effective communication, both verbally and in writing, is essential, as is the ability to extrapolate beyond known facts to reach logical conclusions. A positive attitude towards customers and colleagues, initiative in seeking opportunities for job enhancement, and the ability to relate to people in an open, friendly, and sincere manner are also key aspects of this role. Occasional travel is required.
