About The Position

The King County Library System (KCLS) is seeking a Telecommunications Administrator (Official Title: IT Infrastructure Administrator) to support all phone, paging, emergency alert, and related systems. This role offers the opportunity to support a phone system modernization effort impacting over 1000 library staff across 50+ locations, launch and support a Mobile Device Management implementation, and collaborate with a talented IT team dedicated to supporting their communities. This position is ideal for an experienced IT telecommunications professional with a drive to serve the public. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in information technology, information systems, or business.
  • Five to eight (5-8) years of progressively responsible work experience in a large, centralized work environment, including voice and data communications and systems.
  • Evaluates systems performance and troubleshoots problems.
  • Demonstrated listening and communications skills with diverse populations and team members and a wide and varied customer base.
  • Clearly, succinctly, and effectively communicates ideas verbally and in writing.
  • Makes independent decisions using critical thinking.
  • Responds to changes to priorities in a proactive manner.
  • Productive in an environment with many interruptions.
  • Works under pressure from deadlines and changing priorities.
  • Constantly sit and seldom walk and stand.
  • Constantly use hands/fingers for frequent keyboarding which may be repetitive up to occasionally.
  • Frequently will reach up to the chest level with hands and arms.
  • Occasionally lift to 10 pounds and seldom up to 35 pounds.
  • Seldom push/pull carts using light force.
  • Extensive PC monitor work is required.

Nice To Haves

  • 2 years of experience in network configuration and administration using Microsoft and Cisco technologies preferred.
  • 2 years of experience working with telecommunication vendors and related services preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Oversees day-to-day activities of KCLS's infrastructure technologies to ensure the overall infrastructure is well-maintained and operating smoothly.
  • Performs regular check-ups, manages updates, and diagnoses and fixes issues.
  • Participates in the installation, monitoring, maintenance, support, and optimization of all infrastructure technologies.
  • Plans KCLS-wide infrastructure changes and coordinates change management including configuration, documentation, communications, and maintenance.
  • Follows standard operating procedures and measures performance vs. key performance indicators.
  • Develops statistical tools and measurement criteria as directed.
  • Consults and advises on existing or emerging infrastructure technology products regarding feasibility, standardization, and financial impact.
  • Supports the organization to configure and implement labor compliance and policy matters related to KCLS’s infrastructure.
  • Demonstrates the feasibility of system configuration through development of proof of concepts or implementing test systems.
  • Tracks security issues compromising KCLS’s infrastructure and identifies intrusions into the KCLS system.
  • Defines and maintains documented procedures for the effective installation, configuration, operations, and management of infrastructure technologies.
  • Partners with ITS team members, other stakeholder departments, and business users to perform assessments, analyze and troubleshoot complex issues, and develop improvements to KCLS’s network and computer system hardware, software, and related systems ecosystem.
  • Ensures infrastructure technologies and new integrations meet all requirements and specifications and are compliant with KCLS policies, procedures, and standards as well as data protection laws.
  • Implements and supports system hardware, operating systems, software systems, core network infrastructure, and storage systems.
  • Ensures site reliability within clusters/virtual machines and SolarWinds monitoring critical infrastructure.
  • Facilitates capacity planning, monitoring, and managing resources within the Data Center environment.
  • Maintains user and systems account management of Microsoft Windows infrastructure, including on-premise applications and integration with cloud-based applications such as Office 365 and Web HelpDesk.
  • Manages systems login access, permissions, account management and maintenance for all Microsoft 365 products access, licensing, and security, including troubleshooting access and permissions for all staff.
  • Oversees C200 tokens and management.
  • Acts as Network lead on construction projects, including reviews of wiring designs and installation, and determination of network equipment such as routers, switches, and Access Points in coordination with outside vendors.
  • Designs, configures, stages, and implements Cisco switching and VOIP infrastructure across multiple enterprise environments and team member locations, both remotely and on-site.
  • Manages cell service (voice and data) with various service providers for KCLS team members.
  • Manages announcements and paging system.
  • Reviews service billings for all KCLS, ensuring invoice accuracy, resolving issues, and timely payment.
  • Supports Requests for Proposal (RFPs), Requests for Quotes (RFQs), and purchase requests for various infrastructure projects.
  • Leads the design of user-friendly processes, guidelines, and documentation, reviewing software and vendor documentation to ensure feature functionality requirements are delivered.
  • Contributes to ITS team member meetings and planning sessions.
  • Trains software users.
  • Participates in, facilitates, and/or leads assigned committees.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
