About The Position

Robinson Brothers Construction, LLC, a subsidiary of Quanta Services, Inc., is seeking skilled Telecom/Underground Utilities Laborers for its Major Projects Division. This is a traveling position requiring work across the Pacific Northwest and West Coast. The role involves supporting all phases of utility construction for various telecommunications projects, including general labor duties as directed by a Foreman/Supervisor. Services may include placing poles, anchors, and guys, aerial strand and cable, direct buried pipe, trenching cable, conventional and directional boring, placing underground conduit systems, performing inside wiring, cabling, and testing and maintenance services. The position is field-based and requires willingness to travel to various job sites in multiple states.

Requirements

  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen and Motor Vehicle Report.
  • Possess a valid driver’s license or be eligible and willing to obtain the required license for the position.
  • Clean driving record (no more than 2 tickets in the last 5 years).
  • Basic knowledge of and ability to operate various types of utility trucks and equipment in a safe manner.
  • Basic knowledge of and ability to use hand tools and equipment in a safe manner.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with customers, employees, etc.
  • Willing and able to work in all weather conditions.
  • Eager to work and willing to travel.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous construction experience, preferably in the telecommunication industry.
  • Class A CDL is a PLUS (Higher wage scales apply to CDL holders).
  • Able to perform all duties in telecommunication construction.

Responsibilities

  • Support all phases of utility construction for various types of telecom projects.
  • Perform general labor duties related to telecommunications construction as directed by the Foreman/Supervisor.
  • Place poles, anchors and guys, aerial strand and cable, direct buried pipe, trenching cable, conventional and directional boring, and placing underground conduit systems.
  • Perform inside wiring, cabling, and testing and maintenance services.
  • Hand dig using shovel and mechanical tools.
  • Install and maintain underground telecommunications cabling.
  • Operate or work around heavy equipment and machinery.
  • Work in congested or remote areas.
  • Maintain visual and audible contact with other crew members and all moving or stationary persons/vehicles/objects to ensure safe coordination of movement.
  • Maintain safe working habits/conditions according to all regulations, procedures, and policies.
  • Learn all aspects of crew operations and assist the operator and foreman as assigned.
  • Setup, preparation, and cleanup of construction sites.
  • Develop an understanding of buried utilities.
  • Lift heavy equipment and supplies.
