Performs straight forward network architecture assignments under moderate direction. Uses knowledge to support the planning, researching, evaluating, designing, and developing network systems. Participates in configuration, installation, and performance analysis of networks. This position is centered around IP Network Technology and would be supporting/engineering in the Operational Technology networks for Transmission, Distribution environments. Vendor technologies include Cisco, and vendor toolsets include Cisco SDWan Manager and SolarWinds. Participates in design, installation, configuration, troubleshooting, and performance analysis of AEP's intermediate and enterprise telecommunication networks and systems. Follows policies, practices, procedures, standards, and company rules relative to assignments. Complies with regulations and procedures required by external agencies. Prepares cost estimates for engineering assignments using established guidelines. Performs documentation of project work using established guidelines. Analyzes network performance, troubleshoots when necessary, and provides resolutions to technical problems. Follows standard workflow for engineering projects; applies economic analysis techniques and adheres to budgeting and approval processes in project development. Demonstrates knowledge of AEP networks, components, and facilities to enable more efficient and comprehensive responses to projects and problems. Learns AEP's organizational structure and the specific role and responsibility of one's organizational unit.
