About The Position

Performs straight forward network architecture assignments under moderate direction. Uses knowledge to support the planning, researching, evaluating, designing, and developing network systems. Participates in configuration, installation, and performance analysis of networks. This position is centered around IP Network Technology and would be supporting/engineering in the Operational Technology networks for Transmission, Distribution environments. Vendor technologies include Cisco, and vendor toolsets include Cisco SDWan Manager and SolarWinds. The role involves design, installation, configuration, troubleshooting, and performance analysis of intermediate and enterprise telecommunication networks and systems, adhering to company policies, procedures, and external regulations. It also includes preparing cost estimates, documenting project work, analyzing network performance, troubleshooting technical problems, and applying economic analysis techniques. A strong understanding of AEP networks, components, facilities, and organizational structure is beneficial for efficient problem-solving and project execution.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in engineering, engineering technology, computer science, telecommunications, or related field of study OR associate’s degree in field mentioned above with 2 years of relevant work experience OR HS diploma/GED with 4 years of relevant work experience required.
2 years of relevant work experience in addition to any experience mentioned above.
Valid Driver's License is Required.
Bachelor's degree in engineering, engineering technology, computer science, telecommunications, or related field of study OR associate’s degree in field mentioned above with two (2) years of relevant work experience OR HS diploma/GED with four (4) years of relevant work experience required.
Five (5) years of relevant work experience in addition to any experience mentioned above.
Valid Driver's License Required.
Possess intermediate level knowledge of communications technologies and inter-networking principles.
Demonstrate competency in analytical techniques necessary to handle assignments of moderate complexity.
Exhibit understanding for pertinent telecom equipment, materials, systems and business processes.
Exhibit ability to understand interrelationships between systems and component equipment.
Demonstrate ability to analyze and recommend enhancements to business processes.

Responsibilities

Supports/engineers Operational Technology networks.
