JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS Scheduled Weekly Hours: 42 Work Shift: 7pm - 7am Summary of the Job: Provides continuous observation and surveillance of assigned patients via the telemonitoring system. First line of action is to verbally redirect the patient from engaging in at risk behaviors. Summons the nursing staff if the patient requires assistance. Knowledgeable and supportive of patient and institutional confidentiality and related hospital policies.

Requirements

  • High school graduate or equivalent with general knowledge of the hospital setting and medical terminology.
  • Capable of continuous monitoring of patients on one screen at one time and remaining alert at all times while on duty.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with patients using a microphone and headset.
  • Ability to communicate with hospital staff and respond quickly to patient behavioral changes.
  • Ability to use discretion and courtesy when working with patients, visitors, and staff.
  • Basic computer and Microsoft windows experience.
  • Must possess good physical health.
  • Some requirements include but are not limited to standing, sitting or walking for long periods of time.
  • Lifting at least 50 pounds is required.
  • Must be able to work with a moderate level of noise.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous clinical and direct patient care experience preferred.
  • Current nursing assistant certification validated through the State of Louisiana Board of Examiners preferred.
  • Current BLS certification through any International Liaison Committee on Resuscitation (ILCOR) provided courses such as but not limited to: Ochsner Health System, American Heart Association, and American Red Cross.
  • The ILCOR course must include a manikin check off.
