About The Position

The YMCA of Greater Brandywine (YGBW) is seeking a Teen Mentor to plan, organize, and deliver value-driven skill development programs to participants in accordance with YMCA goals and objectives. YGBW was named a 2025 Top Workplace by The Philadelphia Inquirer for a second consecutive year. As an association of nine YMCAs serving Chester County, YGBW is a non-profit organization dedicated to nurturing the potential of every child, promoting healthy living, and fostering social responsibility through life-changing programs for all.

Requirements

  • 18 years of age with high school diploma or GED
  • Minimum 1-year prior teaching or instructional experience
  • Training and qualifications in the specialized instruction area
  • Demonstrate ability to develop and teach skills
  • Ability to effectively use technology for programmatic needs
  • Obtain and maintain all new hires certifications and trainings within 90 days of hire

Responsibilities

  • Plans, organizes and leads specific activities, routines and/or games for all participants.
  • Leads with enthusiasm and positive motivation in program.
  • Organizes and maintains program records including, but not limited to attendance records, rosters, etc
  • Manages all equipment.
  • Maintains a clean and risk-free environment.
  • Communicates effectively and timely with program participants and parents.
  • Ensures all children are picked up by a parent.
  • Promotes other YMCA programs by handing out brochures, answering questions, or referral to appropriate person.
  • Ensures compliance with all YGBW policies and standard operating procedures.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
