About The Position

Under the supervision of, and in collaboration with the Area Director, the Teen Coordinator is responsible for the daily site operations, and the development and successful implementation of required Teen programs and activities. The Coordinator will assist with staff onboarding and training; mentoring, monitoring and motivating staff interaction in running high quality programs. The Coordinator will be instrumental in creating, executing and maintaining a strategic plan to grow the Teen Program, and facilitate member and parent engagement. The Teen Coordinator will serve as acting Director during the Area Director’s absence.

  • Ability to deal with the general public
  • Ability to plan and implement quality programs for teens
  • Ability to organize and supervise teens in a safe environment.
  • Mandatory CPR and First Aid Certifications
  • Valid state driver license
  • May be required to obtain a CDL license
  • Be a “team” player in order to reach our goals
  • Maturely and professionally engage with teens to create a fun, innovative and safe experience that promotes our Club’s mission and overarching vision
  • Must pass background screen and pre-employment and random drug testing.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and foster a positive climate for teen development based on the mission and goals of the Boys & Girls Clubs of America. Ensure that teens actively participate in a variety of programs and activities; seek advice and guidance from staff about problems; and receive care, respect and recognition for their efforts
  • Plan, organize and implement a range of program activities specific to teen development
  • Initiate new programs with the approval of the Area Director
  • Ensure quality improvement by monitoring and evaluating program achievement against target goals, recommending modifications that respond to teen needs and interests and participating in staff meetings
  • Promote safety of teens, quality programs, and maintain a clean appearance of the Club
  • Provide guidance and role modeling for teens. Encourage cooperation, teamwork, group and individual achievement through a wide array of opportunities
  • Inspire and stimulate program participation and welcome new teens
  • Teach social skills and how to develop and foster friendships; encourage teens to learn new things, increase self-esteem, and achieve academic success
  • Monitor group and individual behavior and follow organization discipline policy and procedures
  • Assist with onboarding, training, mentoring, and coaching Youth Development Professionals
  • Provide guidance to ensure staff are engaging appropriately and delivering quality programming
  • Monitor and evaluate program quality using Boys & Girls Club metrics and required documentation
  • Participate in staff meetings and collaborate with the Area Director on site goals and program improvement
  • Support daily operations including attendance tracking, member check-in and dismissal, homework support, data entry, answering phones, and administrative duties as needed
  • Ensure that new staff are mentored effectively and accurately by role modeling, as well as coaching during on-the-job training
  • Take lead role in the Career Pathways program
  • Duties as assigned may include responsibility for speaking with parents, club attendance for check-in and dismissal, tracking homework and teen data specific to Boys & Girls Club metrics, answering phones, filing and other duties as needed
  • Build relationships with staff at Cheyenne Junior and Senior High schools to promote club awareness and opportunities for teen recruitment
  • Ensure a healthy, clean and safe environment, supervising members in program area
  • Demonstrate the ability to be responsible for small or large groups of teens during daily operations and field trips. Accountable for teens and provide all opportunities for an enjoyable experience for all
  • Manage facilities, and ensure a productive work environment, maintaining an inventory of all program equipment and supplies are in good order
  • May participate in special programs and/or events
  • May be required to drive club vehicles.
  • May be required to work some nights and weekends
