About The Position

Provides technical assistance and training to employees and staff by performing the following duties. The Technology Support Technician is responsible for providing client support and technical issue resolution via E-Mail, phone, and other electronic mediums. This role involves configuring client equipment to connect to the Information system via LAN/WAN, configuring local software to connect to LAN resources and/or Internet applications/servers, and providing training to clients on the use of the Information system and related software. The technician will also obtain a general understanding of OS and application operations related to district-offered services, identify and correct operational issues in client computer systems, and provide Network hardware support for internal and external applications. Additionally, the role includes evaluating new support systems/application system requirements, providing Level II Technical Support for software and network devices, performing light lifting (up to 25lbs), creating new accounts using district-provided software tools, and performing other assigned duties.

Requirements

  • Two year certificate from college or technical school; or Three year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • CompTIA A+ Certificate.
  • Able to work independently and efficiently to meet deadlines.
  • Able to promptly answer support related email, phone calls and other electronic communications.
  • Self-motivated, detail-oriented and organized.
  • Experience with hardware and software issues.
  • Proficient in Internet related applications such as E-Mail clients, FT clients and Web Browsers.
  • Excellent communication (oral and written), interpersonal, organizational, and presentation skills.
  • Typing proficiency: 30-50 wpm.
  • Ability to read, analyzes, and interprets general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental/educational regulations.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information, and respond to questions from groups of managers, staff, teachers, and the general public.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Knowledge of both PC and Mac OS; OS X 10.7 Server; Windows Server 2008; proficient networking skills; Active Directory; Open Directory; Internet software; Word Processing software; Programing Experience.
