About The Position

The Technology Specialist is responsible for installing, upgrading, and maintaining computer hardware and peripheral equipment. This role involves coordinating technology needs with outsourced vendors for efficiency and cost-effectiveness, and assisting management in researching, planning, and implementing new technologies to improve member access and staff efficiency.

Requirements

  • A high school education or GED.
  • Additional college/trade school computer training or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Thorough knowledge of principles and processes for providing member and personal services. This includes member needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of member satisfaction.
  • Knowledge of information technology and network operations and all related computer hardware and software.
  • Understanding of Credit Union operations and philosophy.
  • At least two years experience with computer hardware and software configuration and network support functions.
  • Strong customer service skills and willingness to assist others.
  • Able to communicate complex information clearly.
  • Working knowledge of related computer systems and applications.
  • Demonstrates carefulness about detail and is thorough in completing work tasks.
  • Maintains confidentiality related to Credit Union operations and work-related information.

Responsibilities

  • Install or modify data communication systems.
  • Provide technical support and consultation in the use and operations of complex computer operating systems.
  • Investigate new techniques, equipment, and data processing methods.
  • Evaluate technical requirements for new or upgrades in hardware/software.
  • Maintain databases and libraries including systems security functions.
  • Design and maintain systems documentation according to applicable policies and standards.
  • Ensure that documentation meets all security regulations for the credit union.
  • Coordinate technology resources including main system, telecommunications network, telephone system(s), and personal computer connectivity.
  • Evaluate and procure new technology and computer supplies according to budgetary line items.
  • Keep abreast of state-of-the-art hardware developments.
  • Evaluate technology proposals and agreements and provide recommendations to management on vendors, bids, outsourcing, etc.
  • Coordinate the services of vendors to ensure quality of service and timeliness.
  • Review vendor contracts for compliance.
  • Function as the contracts administrator for all outsourced technology services.
  • Ensure that all software licenses are maintained.
  • Perform other duties, projects or tasks as assigned.
