About The Position

Apple’s Worldwide Developer Relations team (WWDR) provides services, resources, and guidance to help developers create and deliver innovative apps across Apple platforms. The Technology Evangelist will join WWDR as an AI-first technical evangelist with deep systems engineering expertise in AI/ML runtimes and a passion for growing ecosystem adoption. The role works directly with developers to help deliver compelling AI-powered app experiences to customers. The successful candidate will combine hands-on expertise in model inference, runtimes, and performance tuning with the ability to serve as a trusted two-way connection between strategic developers and Apple’s engineering and product teams. They will advocate for developer needs, influence technical leadership, and accelerate adoption of AI technologies across applications on Apple platforms. The role includes engaging developers and communities, identifying systemic API friction and performance gaps, and translating feedback into actionable technical plans. It also involves evangelizing Apple tools and AI frameworks across Greater China, building relationships with senior leaders at developer accounts, representing Apple at conferences and workshops, and rapidly turning unfamiliar architectures and research into working code and proofs of concept.

Requirements

  • At least 8 years of software development experience, including multiple years of hands-on AI/ML engineering beyond integrating prebuilt or commercial APIs.
  • Solid understanding of modern AI architectures, including LLMs, diffusion models, and multimodal models, across training, conversion, quantization, and edge deployment.
  • Expertise in AI inference optimization, custom runtimes, serving engines, and pipeline acceleration, using technologies such as MLX, Core ML/Core AI, ONNX Runtime, TensorRT, vLLM, or equivalent.
  • Exceptional hands-on coding and debugging skills, including the ability to navigate complex codebases and resolve deep architectural roadblocks.
  • Effective, influential communication skills and the ability to understand others’ needs, make strategic decisions, and lead execution.
  • Fluency in English and Mandarin.
  • A degree in a STEM discipline, such as computer science, information technology, mathematics, or physics, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Deep understanding of hardware-software co-design, including Apple Silicon unified memory; GPU, NPU, and Neural Engine execution; memory bandwidth limits; compute-bound versus memory-bound latency; and quantization techniques such as FP8, INT4, and KV cache compression.
  • Experience translating low-level AI capabilities into products, high-quality native apps, or intuitive developer tools and SDKs.
  • Familiarity with modern client-side ecosystems and building visually engaging user interfaces, using technologies such as Swift, SwiftUI, Python, or TypeScript tooling.
  • Strong focus on developer and customer experience across the AI model, inference runtime, system layer, and end-user application.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, fluid, and ambiguous environment with competing priorities, demonstrating autonomy and technical ownership.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience developing immersive and AR spatial applications for visionOS.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with strategic developers, developer communities, and internal stakeholders on initiatives that help developers create AI-powered experiences across Apple platforms.
  • Synthesize patterns from developer interactions, identify systemic API friction points and performance gaps, provide precise technical feedback, and develop actionable technical engagement plans.
  • Evangelize design principles, development tools, and AI frameworks to developers across Greater China; guide technical roadmaps and drive adoption of Apple AI technologies.
  • Build trust-based relationships with senior leaders at strategic developer accounts, including indie creators, enterprise CXOs, VPs of Engineering, and Heads of AI.
  • Represent Apple platforms at global developer conferences, technical workshops, and community initiatives, explaining complex AI concepts clearly.
  • Rapidly learn unfamiliar architectures, frameworks, and academic research and turn new concepts into working code and proofs of concept.
