About The Position

Wells Fargo is seeking a Technical Director as part of Identity Access Management Engineering. The Technical Director will be accountable for end-to-end transformation of the enterprise IGA ecosystem, consolidating Oracle Identity Manager (OIM), Tivoli/IBM Identity Manager (TIM/ISIM), SailPoint IIQ, and ART into a single, modernized, cloud-based IGA platform. This role drives platform unification, large-scale application migration, identity data modernization, and GenAI-enabled governance, delivering measurable improvements in risk posture, operational efficiency, and user experience. In this role, you will: Manage a team of engineering managers and engineering leads Focus on delivering commitments aligned to enterprise strategic priorities Build support for strategies with business and technology leaders Guide development of actionable roadmaps and plans Identify opportunities and strategies for continuous improvement of software engineering practices Provide oversight to software craftsmanship, security, availability, resilience, and scalability of solutions developed by the teams or third party providers Identify financial management and strategic resourcing Set risk management guidelines and partner with stakeholders to implement key risk initiatives Develop strategies for hiring engineering talent Lead implementation of projects and encourage engineering innovation Collaborate and influence all levels of professionals including more experienced managers Lead team to achieve objectives Interface with external agencies, regulatory bodies or industry forums Manage allocation of people and financial resources for Technology Strategic Leadership Develop and guide a culture of talent development to meet business objectives and strategy Demonstrate foundational AI literacy by effectively using approved AI tools to support everyday work Apply AI tools for activities such as research, summarization, drafting, analysis, and decision support Exercise sound judgment when interpreting and using AI‑generated outputs Understand basic AI limitations and appropriate use cases within daily workflows Adhere to data privacy, security, and data‑handling standards when using AI tools Use AI ethically and responsibly, in alignment with company policies and guidelines

Requirements

  • 10+ years of Technology Strategic Leadership experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
  • 4+ years of management or leadership experience

Nice To Haves

  • Proven experience leading large-scale IGA consolidations/migrations from legacy platforms (e.g., OIM, Tivoli, SailPoint IIQ, custom IGA) into modern cloud-based solutions like Saviynt EIC
  • Strong integration and engineering background leveraging APIs, SCIM/REST, and connector frameworks to onboard enterprise applications (cloud, on-prem, and custom)
  • Cloud-first IAM architecture and operations experience, including SaaS delivery models, scalability, resiliency, and secure DevSecOps practices
  • Enterprise program leadership and stakeholder management skills to drive cross-functional alignment (engineering, application teams, risk/compliance, audit) and execute firmwide transformation initiatives
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills
  • Ability to influence technical direction and drive organizational change
  • Familiarity with compliance frameworks and security best practices
  • Experience scaling engineering teams and managing cross-functional collaboration
