About The Position

HDR is hiring a Technology Designer II for its Building Engineering Services Group. The role contributes to designing critical infrastructure and building systems, including low-voltage technology systems that support data centers and commercial environments. The designer independently performs low-voltage technology system and electrical engineering assignments with broad general direction from the Project Manager, and participates in all phases of the design process. The position also involves working directly with owners and collaborating with project teams, designers, coordinators, and technicians.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a combination of education and relevant experience.
Minimum 5 years of experience in low-voltage system design.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
An attitude and commitment to being an active participant in HDR's employee-owned culture.

Nice To Haves

RCDD (Registered Communication Distribution Designer) certification.
Familiarity with MS Project, MS Visio, and Autodesk.
Preference for candidates currently residing in the Mid-Atlantic (VA/MD/DC) area.

Responsibilities

Design integrated low-voltage systems.
Calculate electrical power loads, determine UPS requirements, and design system-related single-line diagrams.
Complete construction-document sets.
Investigate variables to address assignment objectives.
Independently perform low-voltage technology system and electrical engineering assignments with broad general instruction from the Project Manager regarding expected results.
Write specifications covering low-voltage technology system matters.
Perform reviews and work directly with owners as part of the project team.
Assist other designers, project coordinators, or technicians as needed.
Be responsible for work in all phases of the low-voltage technology design process.
Conduct QA/QC on the work of other project coordinators or technicians as needed.
Perform other duties as needed.
