Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED, and five (5) years of related operational experience, including supervisory or lead experience
  • OR Bachelor’s Degree in a technical mining-related discipline with at least one (1) summer internship experience (or equivalent) in a mining or industrial environment, including supervisory or lead experience
  • Candidates may be required to pass a medical exam.
  • Candidates must pass all required training and/or testing.
  • Employees may be required to work a non-standard schedule, which may include shift work (other than day shift) at a 24/7, 365-day operation.
  • Freeport-McMoRan promotes a drug/alcohol-free work environment using mandatory pre-employment drug testing and on-going drug and alcohol testing, as allowed by applicable laws.

  • Ability to travel to other Technology Center locations, including Tucson, Morenci, and other company sites, is required.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise, coordinate, and control the safe and efficient operation of an assigned work unit.
  • Assign, supervise, and review the work of staff.
  • Implement production plans according to approved schedules.
  • Participate in the full range of daily operational duties, performing the most difficult tasks as needed.
  • Inspect and evaluate work in progress, identify problem areas, and direct remedial action.
  • Conduct performance evaluations.
  • Prepare estimates for staffing, materials, and equipment.
  • Maintain inventories and approve purchases.
  • Manage time, materials, and equipment use reports.
  • Train staff in safety procedures.
  • Maintain safety data sheets.
  • Perform other duties as required.
