Requirements

  • Post High School Diploma or Certificate Program
  • AART required within 3 years of start date based on State of Colorado Statute
  • less than 1 year of professional work experience in performing general radiographic/fluoroscopic procedures
  • BLS-Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) - AHA - American Heart Association Required
  • RTR-RT Radiography - ARRT - American Registry of Radiologic Technologists
  • Demonstrated knowledge in how to operate general radiographic equipment and related technology.
  • Demonstrated competency in the performance of general radiographic imaging studies.
  • Knowledge of how to address age-specific care needs of patients and effective interpersonal skill sets that lead to productive communications and collaborations.
  • Competency in interpreting physician order requests for general radiographic imaging studies.
  • Ability to exercise prudent judgment in selecting and configuring equipment settings to compensate for patient physiologic variances.
  • Ability to consistently produce quality images of various anatomical structures.
  • Ability to handle patient specimens and laboratory equipment.
  • Ability to maintain the expected level of competency.
  • Knowledge of safety and infection control practices to ensure a safe environment of care.
  • Microsoft Office Suite experience required.

Nice To Haves

  • Electronic Health Management experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Performs high quality general radiographic/fluoroscopic imaging studies by selecting specific software parameters that will produce a quality image for use by radiologists in their determination of a diagnosis. Scans all relevant clinical information into the PACS, assigns prioritization box for the radiologists’ worklist, and transmits current (and comparison images, when applicable) to the PACS within 1 hour of completion. Prepares and assists in administering contrast agents and determines any potential allergies to ensure compliance with departmental practices.
  • Effectively interacts with Denver Health’s PACS system through compliance with data entry, image post-processing, image archiving tasks, image quality assurance, and other related user interface activities. Uses Epic to input patient examination data and to place patient orders, when appropriate.
  • Ensures patient safety, comfort, and personal dignity by following appropriate patient care guidelines to include use of 2 patient identifiers. Transports patients to and from the Department of Radiology, as needed, to prevent patient flow delays.
  • Assists in the maintenance of department inventory by ordering, stocking, and performing inventory checks on medical supplies. Maintains imaging and processing equipment by performing scheduled cleanings and tests, documenting results. Contacts service personnel and notifies supervisory staff of equipment malfunctions. Maintains a clean and orderly working environment through wiping down examination tables, changing linens, stocking supplies, and washing/disinfecting general radiographic equipment.
  • Attends and participates in departmental huddles, general intradepartmental meetings, and Radiology’s inservices.
