About The Position

Under the supervision of the Anatomic Pathology Manager, this role involves preparing microscopic tissue slides from surgical specimens for diagnostic purposes. The technologist ensures proper collection and labeling of all specimens. Duties include grossing surgical specimens, embedding tissue samples, microtomy, and slide preparation for routine Histology and Frozen Sectioning. Proficiency with automated Imaging Systems, automated special staining, Immunohistochemical and In Situ hybridization staining using different platforms is necessary. The role also requires computer literacy, strong communication skills for interacting with the healthcare team, and the ability to maintain departmental competencies. The technologist will actively participate in staff education, training, and competency assessments, and must be knowledgeable in all CAP/CLIA regulatory requirements.

Requirements

Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology or related field.
HTL (ASCP) or equivalent, certified, or eligible.
Certification must be achieved within 12 months after hire date.
Computer knowledge.
Ability to communicate with members of the healthcare team, including excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Knowledgeable in all CAP/CLIA regulatory requirements.

Nice To Haves

Successful completion of Histology Training Program recommended.
1-3 years Anatomic Pathology Laboratory experience preferred.
