About The Position

Performs registration, receptionist, and secretarial duties in various imaging areas. Responsibilities include patient registration, general patient intake, and patient safety screenings. Validates the completeness and accuracy of account information and patient orders. Serves as the primary communication point, interacting with patients and medical staff. Handles administrative data entries into the EMR Computer System and performs various tasks for the Imaging Services reception area. Demonstrates a commitment to serving all internal and external customers, including medical staff, physician office personnel, patients, and hospital personnel. Additional duties may involve transporting patients, completing observation worksheets (hand-off sheets), coordinating patient flow in and out of the department, and coordinating patient exams with other imaging areas. Performs direct patient care activities and procedures under the supervision of a registered Medical Imaging Technologist. Assists with routine and interventional procedures in the Imaging Department. Effectively prioritizes job responsibilities in a fast-paced environment with multiple demands. Prepares room setups between patients, including selecting and attaching equipment, storing previous equipment, and changing table/room setups. Assists patients on and off the table or chair as directed by the technologist. Completes required training as directed by the department safety officer. Utilizes Imaging Services PACS equipment. Participates in department Quality Improvement activities. Performs in a manner consistent with the mission, vision, and values of Beaufort Memorial Hospital. Adheres to Corporate Compliance initiatives. Maintains high professional and ethical standards through core competencies, clinical competencies, and behavior standards. Understands that healthcare delivery is evolving, and departmental needs may change, with responsibilities subject to expansion or restriction at the discretion of the Imaging Supervisor, Imaging Manager, and/or the Department Director.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Possesses visual, auditory, and verbal acuity.
  • Good Communication Skills.
  • Computer Proficiency.
  • Able to comprehend medical terminology.
  • Filing and clerical ability.
  • Interacts with clients of appropriate age related skill.
  • Good communication skills.
  • The ability to deal courteously and effectively with physicians, patients, and other health care workers.
  • Must possess excellent problem solving and interpersonal skills.
  • General knowledge of imaging procedures.
  • BLS certification required prior to first clinical shift (must be issued by the American Heart Association).

Nice To Haves

  • 12 months’ experience preferred.
  • Experience in general radiology preferred, but not required.
  • General Medical Assistant preferred, but not required.
